Installing an APK on AndroidFive simple steps

Android 8.0 or later is planned. The actual requirement will be shown with each verified release. APK files cannot be installed on an iPhone.

  1. Download the correct app: Passenger for journeys, Rider for an operations-approved rider account.
  2. Open the downloaded APK on your Android phone.
  3. If prompted, allow installation from the browser or file manager you used for this download.
  4. Install and open the app.
  5. Turn that source’s installation permission off afterwards if you enabled it.

Keep Play Protect enabled. If Android shows a security warning, stop and contact support; do not bypass it. About Android installation permissions.

Contact operations
  1. 01

    Speak to operations

The current pilot uses admin-led rider onboarding, rather than open self-registration.

  2. 02

    Complete the onboarding checks

Operations reviews your rider and motorcycle documents, safety briefing and physical-device test before activation.

  3. 03

    Install the Rider app

After onboarding, sign in with your approved account when the signed release is available.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few things
before you go.

Still have a question?
Talk to operations

How do I install the app without Google Play?

When the signed release is published, use the Passenger or Rider APK button on this page. Open the file and follow Android’s installation prompts. You may need to allow the browser or file manager that opened the APK to install apps; you can turn that permission off afterwards. Never disable Play Protect or ignore a security warning.

Which Android versions are supported?

The current apps require Android 8.0 (API 26) or later. The minimum version shown on each released APK will be checked against that actual file. File sizes and release dates will appear when downloads are published.

Can I install it on an iPhone?

These downloads are Android APKs and cannot be installed on an iPhone. There is currently no verified iPhone app or installable web app in this project.

How will I update my app?

Return to this page for the latest verified APK and check the version. Android can install an update over an existing app when its package and signing identity match. No automatic update service is currently provided.

Where can I request a ride?

DHW-inRide is being prepared for a controlled motorbike pilot in Chongwe. Availability depends on the approved service boundary, operating controls and available riders. Public trip operations are not yet confirmed; contact operations before planning a journey.

How do I join as a rider?

Contact operations first. The current pilot requires admin-led onboarding and activation checks. Downloading the Rider app alone does not activate a rider account.

How can I get help?

Use the phone or email in the Support section below. Support hours and response times have not been confirmed. DHW-inRide is not an emergency response service.
